This happened quite a number of years ago. The circumstances were unique and very special. I write the following with great fondness for the past and with gratitude for the powers that be for my good fortune. I think it deserves a good read.
I was a seventeen-year-old junior in high school, rebellious and a bit awkward as most teenagers are. I was also quite introspective and aloof. My parents' marriage had ended badly and my younger siblings and I were left to pick up the pieces, wondering what we would become without the kind of stability we had taken for granted. The world seemed to fall apart for me. In some ways I blamed myself.
My friends were a great comfort at this time, espcially B. He was one of my classmates. I would go over to his house nearly every day after school or after sports in order to hang out with him and his family. B.'s father and mother treated me like one of their own.
